What does the equipment solve?

How it works and how to choose
Water is sprayed from above onto the nozzle, spreads into a thin film, and comes into contact with the biofilm and air. Oxygen diffusion and a long drop path give a high nitrification rate at low energy costs.
- The key to stability is uniform irrigation over the area.
- Washing/purging removes excess biomass and fine suspended matter.
- Low hydraulic resistance: easily integrated into existing hydraulics.
- Nitrogen load: consider TAN (kg/day) from feeding and type.
- Nozzle: we select the specific surface area (m²/m³) and voids that are resistant to fouling.
- Irrigation: Irrigation frequency l/m² h and layer height - according to the flow rate and the required effect.
- Distribution: perforation trays/nozzles with the same pressure, droplet eliminator (optional) at the bottom.
The exact sizes/brands of the nozzle, flow rate and height are calculated according to the technical specifications.
Operation and service
- Washing of nozzles according to ΔP/schedule, inspection of nozzles and trays.
- Control of output DO and nitrites is an indicator of the “health” of the biofilm.
- Degassing: organized air removal, if necessary, a droplet eliminator/silencer.

Frequently asked questions
When to choose trickling over MBBR?
When it is important to reduce energy costs for aeration, enhance CO₂ degassing and obtain a stable “polish” after mechanics. MBBR handles sharp load peaks better.
How can you tell if the water distribution is uneven?
Dry areas on the nozzle, local “rivers”, an increase in NO₂⁻ or a drop in DO at the outlet. The solution is to clean the nozzles/trays and adjust the pressure.
